Argyll & the isles Coast

and Countryside Trust

Funded by the Scottish Community Alliance, this Community Learning Exchange looked at the Argyll and the Isles Coast and Countryside Trust (ACT) based in Argyll and Bute.
Argyll and the Isles Coast and Countryside Trust exist to maintain and promote the natural landscape of Argyll and the Isles, and enable residents, businesses, and visitors to benefit from the great outdoors.
Bùth Bharraigh evolved from a Saturday market, as a route to sale for local producers. Now the shop sells wares from around 100 local producers, including food, wholefoods, craft supplies, books, and gifts. The hub also offers tea and coffee, laundry facilities, and is a space where people will always find a willing ear to listen, and can enjoy a conversation.
Established in 2013 and run by volunteers, Bùth Bharraigh is all about providing opportunities for island residents, as well as meeting the needs of local and visiting customers.
