Arrochar and Tarbet Community Development Trust

Arrochar and Tarbet Community Development Trust have initiated a community-wide meal drop of prepared soup and sandwiches, home baking, grocery items, and drawings and notes from local schoolchildren to elderly and isolated households.

Goodie bags are delivered regularly by groups of volunteers who transport and deliver the supplies to isolated households. The main course meal is made up in the community-owned 3 Villages Cafe, known by locals as the Pit Stop, and a rota list of homebakers support the weekly drop, baking tasty cakes and treats.

The meal drop was assessed weekly to determined if 2 or 3 deliveries per week would help the recipients through difficult times. Along with local Councillor Iain Paterson, the Arrochar and Tarbet Community Development Trust have opened up the former Forestry Commission Offices at Ardgartan. These are functioning as a second Drop Off & Collection Centre for the community meals to reduce footfall at the Cafe and Post Office in Arrochar, and to keep volunteers and recipients safe.
