Community Energy State of the Sector Report 2025 was published by Community Energy Scotland, with support from Community Energy England, Community Energy Wales and SP Energy Networks. The report shares the latest picture of community energy across the UK, showing how local groups are helping to cut carbon, create jobs and support people with energy costs.

It highlights strong progress in 2024, with more renewable generation, new projects and growing partnerships. At the same time, the report points to key challenges such as funding, grid access and ensuring fair support for communities in all parts of the UK, including rural areas.

The findings show the vital role community energy plays in the journey to net zero and call for greater backing so that more communities can take part and benefit.
