SRA have published a report on the second round of their Covid -19 Rural Communities survey. Responses collected from 349 people between July and August this year highlight a greater sense of anxiety, and trust and resourcing at a low ebb.
35% of respondents thought that government was not as good as it had been earlier in listening to communities and there is a lack of clarity around resources to support recovery.
‘Rural communities want greater local resourcing and power, and have clear asks of government:
- deliver political and economic stability
- continue supporting those most affected financially by the pandemic
- focus on job creation
- improve broadband infrastructure, transport networks and housing
- increase provision for mental health’.
