This report highlights how migration experiences and the immigration system contribute to poverty in migrant households across Scotland. To meet national targets on poverty reduction, these inequalities must be addressed as part of mainstream anti-poverty strategies.
Drawing on two years of research and collaboration through Migration Policy Scotland’s policy laboratory, the work explores new ways of tackling the additional barriers faced by migrant families. It shows the importance of engaging with lived experience and co-designing solutions with frontline organisations, to ensure fairer access to support and more effective pathways out of poverty.
