The Social Enterprise Places initiative was launched by Social Enterprise Scotland in November 2019. Building on the programme originally developed by SEUK (Social Enterprise UK) we were keen to promote the great work in Scotland and wanted to adapt the initiative to reflect the Scottish landscape. The programme is supported by the Scottish Government and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
In January 2021, Social Enterprise Scotland announced the results of our first, Scotland- led Social Enterprise Places Programme. Uist was one of these areas where the panel felt there was much to highlight about the impact social enterprise has on the area.
Showcasing the history, diversity and future vision of social enterprise initiatives in Uist, this digital brochure highlights the impact and role of a range of community enterprises on the island and its people.
As topics including the Impact Economy, Net Zero, Community Wealth Building and Social Procurement hit the headlines this November, we want to highlight the work that many communities across Scotland have long been doing as they bring together people, planet and economic impact for the benefit of all.
