Scottish Rural Action: Round 1 Report

Rural Communities Survey on COVID-19 – Response and Recovery

  • Round 1 – May 2020

Report on the first round of SRA’s survey designed to provide a whole community view on response and recovery from rural Scotland. Further rounds are planned in June and July to map changes as Scotland moves out of lockdown.

Key message is the overall success of localism – devolved decision making and funds that reached community level have led to dynamic, targeted local responses.

‘You trusted us to lead on the response… you must now trust us to lead on recovery’

Connectivity and digital skills are a major issue for the future along with the need for capacity building and paid resources to support resilience in some communities. Tourism, mental health and the likely catastrophic economic impact are key areas of concern.
