Details of the two sessions are as follows:


Social Enterprise Legal Structures


Muir of Ord in the Highlands
Thursday 16 November between 10.30am and 12.30pm


  1. This workshop will cover the legalities involved in registering a business with the relevant governing bodies, and how to incorporate a business.
  2. During the workshop, we will highlight and discuss the pros and cons of each social enterprise structure.
  3. The workshop will be led by Neil Masson, an experienced solicitor in legal structures.
  4. This promises to be a very informative workshop for all aspiring social entrepreneurs and advice is on hand, courtesy of Just Enterprise.


Board Skills Audit Tutorial

Muir of Ord in the Highlands
Thursday 16 November between 1.30pm and 3.30pm

This tutorial session will focus on the ten steps to setting up your enterprise board and cover the following topics:

  1. What is a board;
  2. What is governance;
  3. What do board members do;
  4. Can I chose to have a board;
  5. Understanding the role of a board;
  6. Selecting appropriate board members;
  7. Recruiting for staff or volunteers;
  8. What is Human Resources (HR);
  9. Why is HR important for your social enterprise;
  10. Accounting for your social enterprise start up.

  1. Taking Your Social Enterprise from Idea to Reality running in Falkirk on Thursday 30 November between 10.30am and 12.30pm by FirstPort advisor Emma Ives.
